Joseph ( Joe) Tancredi of Hawthorne NY, passed away peacefully at home on Friday June 20th surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on April 20, 1943 in New York City to his parents Joseph and Carmela( Bruno) Tancredi. Joe attended elementary school in the Bronx where he grew up and went on to graduate from Roosevelt High School and Lehman College, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1967.When he returned home from the army, he returned to his job at General Electric, then went on to work for American Express, Berol Pencil Company and the JCCA, where he retired from after over 20 years of service. In his retirement he drove a school bus for 8 years. Joe also served his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Hawthorne Fire Department. Joe was an avid golfer. He enjoyed bowling and his monthly Friday night poker games with his friends. Joe loved music and singing and spending time with family and his lifelong friends of over 50 years. Joe was always animated and loved to have a good time. Joe is survived by his devoted wife Louise, who he was married to for 55 years, as well as his family, including his many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was everyone's favorite uncle. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
