In Loving Memory of Joseph John-Kevin Wisneski ("Whiz")
Joseph John-Kevin "Whiz" Wisneski, 80, of Troy, New York, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025.
Joe was born on May 22, 1945, in Panama City, Florida, the first son of Ruth King (1926–1982) and Joseph Wisneski. He had two younger brothers, Edward (1946–1965) and Cornelius "Neil" Wisneski (1948–1971).
Joe's early years were spent in Flushing, Queens, and later Uniondale, New York, where he lived with his mother and stepfather, Robert Luscombe. There, he proudly became a big brother to Sharon (Condelles), Kathleen, and Robert Luscombe.
A lifelong learner and devoted academic, Joe attended Holy Cross High School, followed by John Carroll University in Ohio and Baruch College in New York. His love of knowledge continued throughout his life as he pursued further studies at Central Connecticut State University, Fairfield University, Seminary of the Immaculate Conception and Fordham University. He also shared his faith and wisdom by teaching catechism on Sundays beginning in 2005.
Beginning in 1990, Joe became an active and beloved member of the Alcoholics Anonymous community. As a sponsor and meeting chair, he offered guidance, compassion, and hope to countless people in recovery.
Joe also dedicated much of his time to serving veterans through the VA, helping fellow servicemen and women navigate their way back to stable and fulfilling lives.
"Whiz," as he was lovingly known by friends and family, was a vibrant soul - brilliant, curious, and full of life. He married Robyn Sklar (m. 1972–1984), and together they had two daughters, Lyndsay King Wisneski and Jaymie Elizabeth-Hill Wisneski. Later, he married Arlene Sabol (m. 1997–2025), who preceded him in death earlier this year in March.
Joe is survived by his daughters Lyndsay and Jaymie, his beloved grandson Karsten Cornelius King Jodahl, two nieces, and two step-grandsons.
He will be remembered for his humor, intelligence, compassion, and the countless lives he touched along the way..

2:00 p.m. onward - End-of-life celebration and gathering at the family home
