Josephine Greer McCartt

Josephine McCartt, age 77, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away September 17, 2024, in Crestview, Florida. She was born May 7, 1947, in Harrimen, Tennessee to Estes Delmer and Gladys Greer.
At one time, Josephine worked with adults in Oak Ridge, Tennessee that were handicapped, but later decided to help her dad harvest seafood aboard shrimp/fish boats in Punta Gorda, Florida, but first and foremost, she was a dedicated wife, mother, and an amazing, strong woman who always put others before her own needs. Josephine enjoyed reading poetry, traveling, cooking, gardening, crafting, and decorating for the holidays. She had a passionate heart for any creature she came across that needed help, always finding a way to love and nurture it back to health. If you ever had the chance to meet and know her, you would know you were lucky and blessed. You will forever be loved and never forgotten, "until we meet again"'.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Barney R. McCartt; parents, Estes Delmer and Gladys Greer; son, David A. McCartt; daughter, Carol A. Lancer; sisters, Suzie Greer and Jackie Jones; brother, Johnny Greer; and several beloved pets.
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Linda Jackson and husband, Keith; daughter, Barbara McDaniel; son, Jeff MCCartt; grandchildren, James R. Hellums, Amanda G. Hellums, Michael Blake McDaniel, Christina Hellums, Allison McDaniel, Mason McDaniel, and Abby Hellums; and great grandchildren, Michael Ellis, Saline Ellis, Madeline McDaniel, Allison McDaniel, Mason McDaniel, and Abby Hellums.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433, beginning at 12:00 p.m. with Minister Joel Davis officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Flowers are being accepted or donations in her memory can be made to ASPCA.
