Joshua Allen Hayes

Joshua Allen Hayes, age 44, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Columbus on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. He was born on Feb. 3, 1981, in Columbus to Edward and Deborah (Hecht) Hayes.
He is survived by his parents; his siblings, Brian, Andrew, and Kelly Hayes; and his niece, Katherine Hayes.
Josh was a 1999 graduate of Bexley High School, where he was a member of the football and baseball teams. (The 1999 BHS baseball team made it to the Division II state semifinal.) Josh attended Wright State University in Dayton for one year before transferring to DeVry University in Columbus to complete his degree in information technology (IT). He worked at GSW, a pharmaceutical marketing company in Westerville, for a number of years. More recently, he worked as a software engineer at Ohio ENT & Allergy Physicians, where he customized computer programs for doctors in several office locations around Columbus. For recreation, Josh utilized his baseball skills on the softball diamond, and he occasionally golfed with his father during the summer months. Josh loved animals and had several dogs (and a cat) over the years. He especially enjoyed visiting his uncle's property in Southeastern Ohio, where he rode horses and helped around the farm. Josh was generous with his time, had a big heart, and was always ready to help friends and family.
His family will sorely miss him for the rest of their days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Columbus Humane or an animal welfare organization of your choice.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W Waterloo St, Canal Winchester, Ohio, 43110, on June 16th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with services at 5:30 PM.
