Joshua Markey Obituary

Joshua was born in York on March 13, 1977, and was the son of Kip R. and Susan E. (Burns) Markey. He graduated from Red Lion Area High School Class of 1995, and attended DeVry University. He loved spending time outside in nature, trail running and hiking. He enjoyed music, playing his guitar and drums, weightlifting, and gardening. He was a beloved Uncle to his nieces. Josh was a dedicated small business owner of Markey's Building Maintenance.
In addition to his parents Kip and Susan, Joshua is survived by his brother Seth Markey and wife Erin; his paternal grandmother Charmaine Markey; his nieces Anna and Sophie; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of life is being held privately under the direction of Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. of East York.

Josh would pull into my parents driveway in a wood paneled Dodge Caravan. We would listen to Led Zeppelin, Rush, Jethro Tull while drinking copious amounts of flavorade. Laughing till it was painful happened very often. This past April when my band played our first show. Josh showed up totally unannounced and totally made my day. That's the kinda guy Josh was. A real stand up guy. Josh will be sorely missed. My heart and soul go out to Seth, Kip, and Sue. We love you Josh!

I went to Chanceford Elementary with Josh, him and I hung around. I specifically remember going to his house one winter day. Although I have not seen him since the early 90's, this still hurts.
