It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Putnam Blackstock, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who left us on November 5, 2025, at the age of 87. Born to William and Hester Putnam on October 10, 1938 in Simpsonville, South Carolina, Joyce made her mark on this world through her unwavering love for family, her dedication to her work, and her genuine passion for life.
Joyce graduated from Simpsonville High School in 1957, eventually settling in
Greenville, SC in 1967. For nearly six decades, Greenville was her cherished home. As an integral part of the family dry cleaning business, she poured her heart and soul into her work, defining dedication and resilience until her retirement at the age of 82 in 2020.
Joyce was not just about work; she was about family, making Sunday lunches a beloved tradition for over 40 years. Her home became a warm gathering place for her loved ones, especially during the holidays when she opened her doors wide for memorable Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations.
Among the things Joyce loved, Clemson football held a special place in her heart, and her trips to the beach brought her much joy and relaxation. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her warm smile and kind spirit.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Christine B. "Chris" Maroney (Ashley); her son Larry James "Jimmy" Blackstock Jr.; her sister Linda P. League (Buddy); and many adored nieces and nephews. Each of them, along with the many friends she collected along her journey, will carry her memory forward with love.
A special thank you goes to her caregivers, Regina McCall and Kathron Feher, and to Interim Hospice for their compassionate care and support during her final days.
A graveside service to celebrate Joyce's remarkable life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park, located at 1 Pine Knoll Drive in
Greenville, SC.
We love you, Joyce. You will forever hold a place in our hearts.
