Joyce Van Buren Sayers, 79, of Erie, passed away Saturday June 28, 2025. She was born in Batavia, NY on May 15, 1946 a daughter of the late Hobart and Ruth Butler Van Buren.
Joyce was a member of First Wesleyan Methodist Church. She was an avid fan of Elvis and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Sayers; one brother, Hobart Van Buren, Jr; and two sisters, Carol Van Buren and Janet Romesburg.
Survivors include four sons, William, Bruce, George, and Henry Sayers, all of Erie; two daughters, Debbie Sayers and June McGranor, both of Erie; five grandchildren, Nickolas McGranor, Kelsey McGranor, Adriana Thurlow (Kyle), Madison McGranor (Tyler), and Benjamin McGranor; five great grandchildren, Bentley McGranor, Violet and Lillian Thurlow, and Brooklynn and Hudson Funkhouser; one brother, Robert Butler (Rose) of Albion, NY; one sister, Debra Lambert (James) of Satellite Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and are invited to services there on Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
