Juan "Johnny" S. Villa, 83, of Beeville, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
Johnny was born March 29, 1941, in Glen Flora, Texas to Francisca (Salazar) Villa and Alfonso Villa, Sr. He lived a life filled with dedication, love and a passion for his work as a farmer and deer lease foreman. In 1960, he married his loving wife, Mary Chapa. Throughout his life, he enjoyed gardening and had a passion for collecting arrowheads and hunting. Additionally, he was skilled in carpentry, and his talent extended to making jerky, a craft that was both a labor of love and a testament to his resourcefulness. Johnny also found great joy in watching the Dallas Cowboys, passionately supporting his favorite team, as well as capturing moments through photography, making memories that would serve as a reminder of the cherished times spent with family and friends. His favorite role was that of a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisca and Alfonso Villa, Sr., along with three brothers, Domingo Villa, Alfonso Villa, Jr. and Joseph Villa; and a granddaughter, Selena Clevenger.
Left behind to cherish fond memories include his devoted wife of 65 years, Mary (Chapa) Villa; two sisters, Margaret S. Villa of San Antonio and Lupita (Villa) Burrow of Mississippi; three children, Rose Mary V. Banda, Juan Robert Villa and Diana Villa, all of Beeville; as well as 10 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren who loved their “Popo.”
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, at Angelus Funeral Home in Beeville, with a Rosary to be recited at 11 o’clock.
The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Deacon Roger Rosenbaum officiating. Johnny will be laid to rest in the San Pedro Cemetery in Clareville.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Soto, John Villa, Lorenzo Banda, III, Michael Gomez, Christopher Lara and Matthew Villa.
Manuel Buentello will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
