Judith Ann "Judy" Altizer, age 86 of Centerburg passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, under care at Bennington Glen surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Morrow County on March 18, 1938, to the late Gerald M. and Ruth C. (Dowden) Hulse. A graduate of Sparta High School in 1956, she married Paul "Rex" Altizer following his return from serving in the 11th Airborne Division of the US Army. They were married for almost 57 years until his sad passing in 2013. Together they raised a wonderful family and shared in the joys of life through thick and thin.
Her life centered on caring for the needs of her family. She enjoyed attending her children's games and activities as they grew up in Centerburg. She continued to be an avid fan of all Centerburg School sports, including those of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Judy was a wonderful cook. Her family enjoyed her strawberry and apple pies, Sunday pot roast, and many other favorites. She was also skilled in the kitchen, canning and freezing all types of fruits and vegetables that she used to make many of her family's favorite dishes.
She treasured time spent mowing her lawn, tending to her garden, reading, snow skiing, watching the Reds, and sewing things for her family. Forever loving and caring, she was a friend to all. Judy will be remembered for her unconditional love and playfulness.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Dr. Stanley (Nancy) Altizer, Cheryl Altizer, Treva (Ken) Gabriel, David (Brenda) Altizer, Ryan (Heather) Altizer, 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brothers: Larry (Louise) Hulse, Calvin (Janet) Hulse, and sister Diann (Don) Argentiero, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Phillip and Merle Hulse.
Following her wishes her family will observe private calling hours and graveside services. Judy will be laid to rest at Bloomfield Cemetery near Sparta. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder Funeral Home, DeVore Chapel in Sunbury.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Centerburg Public Library in memory of Judy; Centerburg Public Library, PO Box 609, Centerburg, OH 43011.
