Hanson-Runsvold Funeral HomeJudith Myrna Winter, known to most as Judy, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 5, 2025, at her home at Good Samaritan. Her life was a testament to compassion, creativity, and devotion to family, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege to know her.
Judy began her journey on June 28, 1944, in Fargo, North Dakota, born to loving parents Joseph T. Bruzelius and Erma (Engel) Bruzelius. As the second oldest of four children, she grew up surrounded by family and learned the values of kindness and hard work early on. Judy graduated from Central High School in 1962 and continued her education, earning her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) qualification from the North Dakota State School of Science.
While working as a car hop at A&W, Judy met the love of her life, Glen R. Winter. Their connection blossomed, and they were married on September 11, 1965. Together, they made their first home on the Winter family farm in Hallock, Minnesota, before moving to Fargo, North Dakota. Judy's greatest joy was her family, and she devoted herself to raising their three children with unwavering love and support.
Judy dedicated over forty years to nursing, spending the majority of her career at Dakota Hospital. Her natural caregiving spirit impacted countless lives, both through her professional work and her personal relationships. She was known for putting others first and finding fulfillment in helping those around her.
Judy was a creative soul, always crafting and gifting handmade treasures to her children and grandchildren. Her latest artistic pursuit was diamond art, a testament to her lifelong passion for creating beauty and sharing it with loved ones.
Family was Judy's greatest treasure. She cherished spending time with her granddaughters, and some of her most cherished memories were summer RV trips across the country with her husband and granddaughters. In recent years, Judy became a great-grandmother, and despite distance, fostered a close relationship through technology.
After the passing of her beloved husband Glen, Judy moved into Good Samaritan, where she thrived, forming deep connections with both staff and residents. Her family is profoundly grateful to everyone at Good Samaritan for filling Judy's life with love, laughter, and companionship during her final years.
Judy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen Winter, her parents, her brother, and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. She is survived by her children, Kari (Greg) Nelson, Raymond Winter, and Karla Winter, all of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Erica (Colton) Gray of Nashville, TN, Ashley (Hunter Hassebrock) Nelson of Fargo, ND; and great-grandson, Easton Gray of Nashville; brother, Gary (Marilyn) Bruzelius of Seattle, WA; and sister, Janet Rath of Dilworth, MN; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Plus, many bonus children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Judy's legacy is one of compassion, creativity, and unwavering love for her family. Her memory will continue to inspire those she touched throughout her remarkable life.
