Our dear mother, Marjorie Elizabeth Winter (nee Legan), 85, of Medina, OH, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, after a short illness.
Marjorie was born on January 19, 1940, to the late Joseph and Phyllis (nee Clapp) Legan in Cleveland, OH. She moved to Sharon Center, OH, and graduated from Highland High School in 1958. Marjorie married Dale L. Winter later that year; she then became a stay-at-home mom with a big job of raising four children, all born within four years of each other.
She worked for over 25 years as an office secretary at Highland High School and Highland Middle School, the Medina County Career Center, and eventually, retired from Polaris Career Center. Marjorie loved the students, teachers, and fast-paced atmosphere while working at each school. After retiring, she worked for another five years for the Medina County Park District. Marjorie loved to read, knit, and travel, but her happiest times were with her children and grandchildren.
Marjorie was an amazing lady who always had a smile on her face and brought flair and grace to every occasion. She bestowed her love equally among her four children, and they loved her deeply in return. Marjorie's quiet strength and dignity were an inspiration to the entire family.
She will forever be missed by her children, Timothy (Kimberly) Winter, Theodore (Elizabeth) Winter, Tracee (Alexander) Teresko, and Todd (Diana Whisenant, and her daughter, Helen) Winter; grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Novotny, Nicholas (fiancée, Emaleigh Nelson) Teresko, Victoria (Tyler) Darnell, Taylor Winter, and Tom Winter; great grandchildren, Thomas and Benjamin Darnell; sister, Kathleen (Jon) Fry; nieces and nephews (their families included), Denise, David, Patrick, and Melissa, as well as many dear friends.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, David Legan, and the father of her children, Dale Winter.
Please join the family for a visitation on Friday, September 12, 2025, 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., at Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Rd., Medina OH 44256. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor David Weyrick officiating. Marjorie will then be taken to the Sharon Twp. Cemetery, where she will be lovingly laid to rest.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Brookdale of Bath for their warm and compassionate care of Marjorie during her last few years. In lieu of flowers, donations would be graciously accepted by the Medina County Park District, https://friendsofmedinacountyparks.org/donate/, or mail a check to 6364 Deerview Lane, Medina, OH 44256, in Marjorie's name, to honor her memory.
