Judith M. Ryan, known affectionately as Judy to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, in her hometown of Indianapolis, the same city where she first greeted the world on January 1, 1943. Judy's life was a rich tapestry of dedication, love, and kindness, woven through the many roles she embraced as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and professional.
Judy's journey began as a bright-eyed graduate from Manual High School in 1961, where she laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong commitment to excellence and service. Her career as an insurance underwriter spanned over four decades with Merchants Property Insurance Company, where she was not only a respected colleague but also a treasured friend to many. Her diligence and expertise were matched only by her unwavering integrity and compassion, making her a pillar in her professional community.
At home, Judy's heart was ever full with the love of her family. She shared 65 wonderful years with her beloved husband, Wayne A. Ryan, a testament to their enduring partnership and mutual devotion. Together, they raised their son, Kenneth A. Ryan, and rejoiced in the blessings of their grandson, Jordan Christopher Ryan, who brought immense joy and pride to Judy's life. Though she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ron and Bob Mitchell, the memories they shared continue to be cherished by all who knew them.
Judy's interests and joys were simple yet profound. She found relaxation and entertainment in her favorite television shows, "Walker Texas Ranger" and "In The Heat of the Night," which were her steadfast companions during quiet evenings. Her love for her cats was well-known, as she provided a warm and loving home for her feline friends, who in turn offered her comfort and affection.
Graveside funeral services for Judy will be held on Monday, August 11 at 1:30PM at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1977 S. State Rd 135, Greenwood, IN 46143.
As we bid farewell to Judith M. Ryan, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of kindness that will continue to inspire. Her memory will be treasured in the stories that will be told and retold, in the lessons she imparted, and in the love she shared so freely. Judy's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
