Judith Ann Parks Sorensen, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025, in Payson, Utah.
Born March 16, 1943, in Richfield, Utah, to Clarence Lee and Nellie Madge Gauchat Parks, Judith grew up in a close-knit family that shaped her lifelong devotion to faith, service, and family. She attended school in Richfield and graduated from Richfield High School before attending Brigham Young University in Provo.
While living in California, Judith met the love of her life, Gene K. Sorensen. They were married in Reno, Nevada, and later sealed for time and eternity in the Manti Utah Temple. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith.
Judith found joy in simple, meaningful things-traveling, tending to her garden, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a deep love for her family's stories and spent countless hours preserving them through family history work. Her dedication to remembering and honoring those who came before her led her to publish several books about her ancestors, a labor of love that ensured their stories would never be forgotten.
A devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, Judith lived her faith through consistent service. She served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many callings, including presidencies in the Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women's organizations at both ward and stake levels. She and Gene shared a lifelong dedication to Scouting and later served together as stake leadership missionaries. Her example of strength, compassion, and unwavering faith blessed everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Kimberly Layne (John) Harper of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Toni Lee (Chad) Black of Genola, Utah; Scott Erik Sorensen of Lehi, Utah; and Derek Chad (Carrie) Sorensen of Lehi, Utah. She was the proud grandmother of Colton Guss Black, Wyatt Norman Black, Bailey Ann Black Bradshaw, Brandee Kae Black, Brinlee Black, Brylie Hall Black, Boey Black, Whitney Esther Harper Askelson, Austyn Nickole Sorensen Anderson, Rori Ann Sorensen, Riley Scott Sorensen, Caden Derek Sorensen, Parker James Sorensen, Jaxon Taylor Sorensen, and Chase Wyant Sorensen; and great-grandmother to Gideon Victor Black, Atreus William Black, Rebekah Claire Askelson, Cash Paul Bradshaw, and Ezra Greg Askelson. She also lovingly embraced many foster grandchildren as her own.
She is survived by her sister Kathleen (Lee) Parks Nelson and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents; and siblings Carma Lee Parks Christiansen, Clarence Chad Parks, and Barbara Parks.
