Obituary
Julia Barela, age 89, Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on Wednesday, July 26th. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home surrounded by her three daughters, Janice Tigges, Isabel Barela and Grace Duran.
She was born in Truchas, New Mexico on July 4, 1934, the daughter of Carpio and Ramoncita (Cordova) Archuleta. She married her high school sweetheart, Gilbert Barela, on June 13, 1953. They celebrated 59 years of marriage-he passed away on March 12, 2012.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul, Fidel, Manuel and Beronil Archuleta, and by her sisters, Rosa Vigil, Sofia Martinez, Erlinda Martinez, and Delia Padilla.
She is survived by her three daughters, (mentioned above); and five grandchildren, Jaime Tigges (wife, Jennifer Cordova), LeeAnn Duran, Victoria Duran, Robert Duran Jr. (wife, Ashley Duran) and Patrick Duran; and ten great-grandchildren, Mariah Cordova (fiance, Carlos Diaz-Olivas), Daniel and Kayla Barela, Elijah and Noah Munoz, Matthew Jr., Dominic and Jocelynn Lujan and AmiLee and Antonio Duran; and four great-great-grandchildren, David, Aaliyah and Selene Diaz-Olivas Cordova and the newest member of the family Jaden Lujan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Susie Barela, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jaime Tigges, LeeAnn Duran, Victoria Duran, Robert Duran Jr., Daniel Barela and Elijah Munoz.
A funeral service of remembrance will be held Friday, August 4th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., FRENCH - Wyoming Chapel, followed by the Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A reception to celebrate her life will follow interment at the FRENCH - Wyoming reception center.
