Julia Mae Moore, 97, passed away peacefully at Heritage Center SNF on October 28, 2024, she lived at Heritage for 9 years after a stroke that paralyzed her left side and most likely another stroke left her unable to talk, eat, or drink.
Mae was born May 9, 1927, in Crittenden County KY to Marion Anson Adamson and Julia Beatrice Dailey Adamson. She spent most of her life on the "Hill" farm in Union County, KY with 10 brothers and 2 sisters on a large family farm. She graduated from Morganfield High School in 1945.
She met the love of her life Raymond Kenneth "Doc" Moore and they were married May 7, 1948 (51 years) and moved to Evansville, IN. There they started a family with Pamela Gail Moore 1949, Anthony C. "Tony" Moore 1953, and Gary Randall Moore 1955. Mae was a terrific mother, housewife, seamstress, and quilter. She cared for neighborhood children while their mothers were at work. She made over 180 "baby quilts" for family, friends, church fundraisers plus pillows, animals, and Christmas hanging art. Mae also painted and sewed clothing. Mae was a lifelong member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Evansville, IN and Morningside Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Mae is survived by her sons "Tony" Moore, Dr. Gary Moore; grandchildren; Jamie Nunn (William), Courtney Woodcox (Kenneth), Eric Moore, Raymond Samual Moore, Caitlin Hurt (Erik); great grandchildren; Drake Barrett, William Nunn, Elizabeth Nunn, Alexandria Nunn, Weston Woodcox, Greyson Woodcox, and Ellason Woodcox; great great grandchildren Daniel Barrett, Dawson Barrett, and Thaya Barrett. Sister Dorothy" Dot" Timmons, sister-in-law Agnes Adamson and many, many loving nieces and nephews.
Mae is preceded in death by Raymon Kenneth "Doc" Moore, daughter Pamela Gail Barrett and her husband Daniel Barrett; Father Marion Anson Adamson, Mother Julia Beatrice Dailey Adamson; Brothers Burnice Dailey, Author " Bee" Daley, Robert Adamson, Alton Adamson, Francis Marion " Hodge" Adamson, Percie "Richard" Adamson, Charles Adamson, Roger " Pud" Adamson, Jack Adamson, Anson "Gene" Adamson, and sister Florine " Sis" Johnson.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the staff and nurses at the Heritage Center SNF for their 9 years of excellent care and the many family members and friends who supported and shared her long, wonderful life.
Funeral visitation will be held Saturday 11/2/24 from 9:30 - 11:30 at Sunset Funeral Home, Evansville, IN. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Morningside Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8419 Newburgh Rd, Evansville, IN 47715.

I am one of the lucky neighborhood kids who got to stay with Mae. She was the best baby sitter. I learned to sew, cook and was always loved and taken care of. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful person and I feel lucky to have known her.
