Julie Fjeldsted
Mayfield, Utah

Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Julie Anderson Fjeldsted, passed away on September 15, 2024, two days shy of her 76th birthday, after a brave and prolonged 13-year battle with multiple myeloma cancer. Mom was a woman of grace, strength, and resilience, who faced life’s trials with unwavering faith and a heart full of gratitude.
Born on September 17, 1948 in Gunnison to Austin and Gertrude Christensen Anderson, Julie was a beautiful baby girl with auburn hair and piercing blue eyes. Mom’s life was a testament to love, service, and family. She and her husband of nearly 60 years, Paul Bruce Fjeldsted, were married on November 14, 1964 in Gunnison. They were later sealed in the Manti, Utah Temple, on May 7, 1977. They were blessed with eight children — seven daughters and one son - whom she cherished deeply. Her devotion to her family was boundless, always making their home a place of warmth, comfort, and care.
Music was central to Julie’s life. She loved the piano and taught countless lessons over the years, passing her musical gifts to her children and grandchildren. The sounds of her playing filled her home with peace and joy. Her voice was as beautiful as her piano playing, and she often sang joyfully, filling the hearts of those around her with peace and happiness.
Her creativity extended beyond music. She was a gifted teacher of crochet and sewing, passing down these skills to her grandchildren, creating a lasting legacy of love and craftsmanship. Each stitch they learned from her was filled with patience and care, a reminder of the gentle wisdom she imparted.
Her hands were always busy, whether nurturing her beautiful garden, canning jars of food, or maintaining a spotless home. She believed in the beauty of a clean, organized space, which reflected her meticulous nature and love of order. She was a hard worker and instilled that value into each one of her children. Julie was an excellent cook and nourished her family with each of her meals. Her handwriting, elegant and graceful, was admired by all - a reflection of the beauty she saw and created in the world.
Her faith and gratitude were the guiding principles of her life. A woman of deep service, Julie found joy in helping others, always ready to lend a hand or offer a kind word. Whether in her church, community, or within her family, her presence was one of quiet strength and dedication. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life.
For 13 years, Julie faced the challenges of cancer with unshakeable determination. Her courage and resilience were an inspiration to her family and all who knew her. Though her illness was long and difficult, she remained steadfast, enduring with grace and love until the very end.
She is survived by her loving husband, Paul; her seven daughters: Holly (Dean) Bunnell, Marcie (David) Singleton, Roxane (Shawn) Brenchley, Paula (Nolan) Andersen, Trudy (Courtney) Crane, Meredith (Nick) Rosenvall, and Denise (Jake) Hill; her son, David Fjeldsted and 36 adoring grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Gertrude Anderson; grandchildren: Jack Austin Brenchley and Anne Brenchley; siblings: Hal (Renee) Anderson, Verlyne (Dwaine) Burr, Kim Anderson; brothers-in-law, Bill Nay, Kenley Christiansen; Paul’s parents: Bruce and Jean Fjeldsted; Paul’s siblings: Dorothy (Kenley) Keisel, Ronald Fjeldsted.
Her legacy of love, creativity, and service will live on in the hearts of her family and those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Mom, you have fought the good fight, and your legacy of love will continue to inspire us all. We love you!
The family would like to thank the numerous care givers over the past 13 years, especially Dr. S. Walletine, Dr. Inouye, Wade Anderson, Mission at Community Living in Centerfield, the doctors, nurses, CNA’s at the care center and Gunnison Valley Hospital; and all her hospice care team who lovingly cared for her over the years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Centerfield Ward Chapel. Viewing at the church from 9:00 to 10:30 am.
