June Beckage Obituary
June (DeWalt) Beckage, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 3, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on June 11, 1932, in Bethlehem, June's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the love she shared with those around her.
June was the beloved daughter of the late Raymond and Evelyn (Hummel) DeWalt. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John G. Beckage, her son Gary Beckage, and her brothers Dale and Donald DeWalt. Her legacy continues through her loving children: Tom Beckage and his wife Janine of Bangor, Lynn Fairall and her husband John of Bangor, Karen Stelz of Bath, Sue Capobianco of Easton, and Scott Beckage and his wife Rhonda of Pen Argyl. She was a proud grandmother to Jeremy, Cory, Jonathan, Keith, Emily, Derek, Kassandra, and Michael, and a great-grandmother to Alexa, Elias, Roman, Quinn, Charlotte, Connor, and Maverick. June also leaves behind her caring sisters, Shirley Ricci and Nancy Kohler.
June attended Liberty High School. She embarked on a career in the textile industry before dedicating many years of service to Binney and Smith.
June's involvement in her community was extensive. As a member of the Red Hats, she enjoyed the camaraderie and shared many joyful outings with her fellow members. Her faith played a central role in her life, and she was a faithful member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pen Argyl, where she volunteered her time and talents with grace and enthusiasm.
Sewing was more than a hobby for June; it was a passion that she pursued with artistry and precision. Her creations were not only beautiful but also expressions of her love and care. June was also an active member of AARP.
June found great pleasure in life's simple joys. She was known for her love of playing bingo and cards with her friends, sharing laughter, and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Above all, June loved her family deeply. She was the heart of family gatherings, and her wisdom, warmth, and kindness were the glue that held everyone together.
Services: A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, May 13, 2024 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1422 Church Rd, Pen Argyl, PA 18072 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10 A.M. until time of the service in the church. June's arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com
