In Loving Memory of June Marie "June Bug" JunkasDecember 26, 1950 – June 14, 2025
June Marie Junkas, lovingly known as "June Bug" to her friends and family, of Aurora, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on December 26, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, June was the eldest of eleven children and the beloved daughter of Matthew and Loretta Zygadlo. A lifelong learner with a strong work ethic, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Elmhurst College and later went on to receive her MBA from the University of Phoenix.
June began her career in 1972 at First Chicago Bank, which later became Chase Bank. Her dedication and leadership led her to serve as Vice President and Collection Site Manager from 1989 to 1999, managing operations across more than 50 branches throughout the Chicagoland area. In 1999, she relocated to Tempe, Arizona, continuing her role at Chase until 2002. After an accomplished banking career, she followed her passion into real estate, working as an Associate Broker and Real Estate Agent in Gilbert, Arizona until her retirement in 2019.
June was more than her work. She loved life and the people around her. She enjoyed golfing with her bank colleagues, found peace in gardening with her daughter (especially growing roses), and never missed a chance to sing her heart out at karaoke nights in Arizona. Trivia nights with family and friends were her happy place, always full of laughter, fun facts, and a touch of friendly competition.
She is survived by her loving children: her son Vincent of Phoenix, AZ, and her daughter Elizabeth of Aurora, CO. For the past six years, Elizabeth and her husband welcomed June into their home, where she was lovingly cared for and surrounded by her grandchildren. June is survived by her two children, five grandchildren, and four sisters, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family who adored her.
In keeping with June's wishes, there will be no formal service. She wasn't one for gloomy gatherings and preferred happy tears over sad tears. Please honor her time by spending time together, laugh with and love those closest to you, and make beautiful memories.
