Justin E. Davidson, 43 of Gettysburg passed away at home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Born May 17, 1981 in Folsom, PA, he was the son of the late John H. and Pamela (Drummond) Davidson.
Mr. Davidson is fondly remembered as a decorated firefighter. He received a bachelors degree from University of Maryland and a masters certificate from Johns Hopkins in Emergency Management. He was an honorary member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity at the University of Maryland where he developed many lifelong friends. He worked many years for the Anne Arundel fire department in Glen Burnie, MD., rising to Captain, before retiring with disability from injuries suffered on the job. In 2010, whilst visiting his parents at his childhood home in Wallingford, PA., a fire broke out in the attic. He safely evacuated his parents and dogs from the house before controlling the blaze wearing only a t-shirt and shorts with just a garden shovel and water from the sink before the fire department arrived. For his efforts he was a recipient of the Firehouse Heroism Award.
When Justin was not working as a firefighter, he was a passionate Maryland Terrapins and Philadelphia sports fan, an avid civil war buff and had a slight obsession with Taylor Swift. He had a big heart and was a loyal friend to many. His friends' kids often referred to him as "Uncle Justin." Anytime visiting friends, he would show up with a gallon of ice tea, wearing oversized custom sweatshirts he had made for himself, and would shower the kids with gifts and various fire department paraphernalia. He loved playing fantasy football and once bought the entire league sweatshirts to commemorate his 'back to back" championships. Most importantly though, Justin loved sleeping with a fan blowing on him at all times. Justin will be missed greatly.
A celebration of life will be held in private at a later date.
