Justin Scott Thomason, age 52, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on June 11, 2025. Born on May 8, 1973, in Olney, Illinois, Scott was the beloved son of Teresia "Thomason" Hollinger.
Scott proudly served his country in the United States Army, embodying the values of dedication and service that defined his life. He had a deep love for the outdoors, finding joy in activities such as hunting and fishing, where he often felt most at peace. His passion for nature was matched only by his affection for his two husky dogs, Sky and Radar. Even during his illness and treatments, Scott made it a priority to spend time with them, taking them for daily walks and ensuring they felt his love and companionship.
Scott is survived by his devoted wife, Erica (Hargrove) Thomason; his loving mother, Teresia Hollinger; and his cherished children, Kyle Thomason, Kaylie Shephard, and Tailyr Buckley. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. Scott is also remembered by his brother, Robert Ray Hollinger, and his in-laws, Robert and Lee Ann Hargrove. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Robert L. Hollinger.
In accordance with Scott's wishes, no services will be held. His family invites those who wish to honor his memory to reflect on the love and laughter he brought into their lives. Online condolences may be left at denningfamilyfuneralhome.com
Scott will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
