Karen Dobert Obituary
Karen A. Dobert, 78, of Rensselaer, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at her home. Born July 23, 1947, to Lawrence and Isabelle Seales in Troy, Karen graduated from Catholic High School in 1965 and obtained her Bachelor's degree from Western Carolina University.
For many years Karen worked as an English teacher, teaching middle schoolers at St. Augustine's in Lansingburgh. She then continued her education and received her master's degree from the University of Albany, changing careers to work for the state in their taxation and finance department until she retired.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Skaarup (Ken) of Troy, and her grandchildren, Carissa Skaarup of Waterford and Kenneth Skaarup of Rensselaer. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Squeaks, who will miss her very much.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Mom's caregiver, Anita Soto, who's been there with us for the last 14 months and has no idea how much we appreciate all she's done.
At Karen's request, there will be no funeral services.
