Kathie L. Hamas, age 71, joined her son, Rick in Heaven on February 7, 2014.
She was born in Akron, and was briefly employed by Visiting Angels after caring for her son for 15 years. Kathie enjoyed making crafts and gardening, feeding the birds and deer, and caring for her parrot, Lucky. In her spare time, she loved shopping with her sister, Jan. Kathie was a wonderful and kind person. She had the gift of compassion and gave loving care and comfort to many during their final days. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Anne Reiber; son, Rick Hamas; and Cristy Forlines, Kathie is survived by her loving companion, Joe C. Forlines, Jr.; son, Steve (Brenda) Hamas, Jr.; daughter, Jenny Bader; grandchildren, Courtney, Cory, Alicia and Justin Hamas, Ryan and Evan Bader, Joe (Laura) Forlines and Elizabeth Forlines; brother, Conrad (Barbara) Reiber; sisters, Judy (Fred) Layton, Jean Longfellow, Carol Kline and Janis (Larry) Lambes; aunt, Mary Fekete; nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will immediately follow at 5 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
