Kathy McCurdy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Nov. 11, 2022.
Kathy Louise McCurdy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on November 9, 2022, at the age of 72. Kathy was born in Oklahoma City on November 6, 1950, the daughter of J.D. Pauley and Lee (McClendon) Pauley. She grew up in Southwest Oklahoma City and attended U.S. Grant High School. After high school, she went to work in the service industry, working for Piccadilly Cafeteria in Crossroads Mall, Dairy Queen, and as a Housekeeper for Sheraton Hotels. Her favorite job, however, was being a Homemaker.
On June 26, 1967, Kathy married the love of her life, Ted McCurdy, in a lovely ceremony in Oklahoma City. From this union came three children, Roy, Janet, and Tammy. Kathy was very proud of her family. She was a wonderful wife to Ted, and a terrific and attentive mother to her children. When her grandchildren came along, she was absolutely thrilled. She simply adored her grandchildren and treasured their visits.
Kathy was a loving person with a caring heart. Anytime she saw someone feeling down, she always knew exactly what to say to lift their spirits. She loved having fun and you could often find her dancing to country music, bowling, playing Bingo, and going to the casino any time she had the chance. She was feisty, sassy, funny, and oftentimes, had no filter. She always said exactly what was on her mind, never making you guess how she felt about anything, often using Facebook as her outlet. She was very active on social media and loved checking her Facebook every day. Always referring to herself as "Queen B", Kathy was, without question, the monarch of her family. She loved time spent with her children and their families and enjoyed having family get-togethers. She loved to cook for everyone, and her delicious meatloaf, famous barbeque chicken, and incredible fried potatoes were requested often by her family over the years. She especially loved gatherings around the holidays. She loved spending Halloween with her grandkids, and her Thanksgiving stuffing was always the main attraction at the dinner table every year. Kathy will be remembered fondly for her strong personality and the love, loyalty, and devotion she had for her family. She will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Lee Pauley, one brother, Jerry, and two sisters, Meredith, and Karen.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 55 years, Ted McCurdy, of the home; her children, son Roy McCurdy and his wife, Shauna, and daughters Janet Buehner, and Tammy Bailey, all of Oklahoma City; one brother, Mike Pauley of Oklahoma City; along with eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving family members and friends.
