With much sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Kay Williams Sutton due to Alzheimers on June 6, 2024, surrounded by family, in Hendersonville, NC. Kay was born September 16, 1940, in Asheville, N.C.
Kays journey through life was one of dedication, care, love and unwavering faith. Kay attended the Asheville area schools, graduating from Lee Edwards High School, in 1958.
Kay and David Sutton met each other as young teenagers, in 1955. After getting married in Asheville NC, in 1965, they relocated to Odenton, MD in 1967. Both retired in 1994 and returned to Hendersonville, NC in 1995.
Kays professional career consisted of working as an accounting/ bookkeeper both in the Asheville and Baltimore, MD areas. Kay balanced her professional career and personal life as a loving wife and mother with grace and skill, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil A. Willams and Rosa Grimes Willams, her sister, Donna Shields Prodan, and her brother, Douglas Shields. Her father in law, George W. Sutton, Sr., mother in law, Edith Fox Sutton, and brothers in law George W. Sutton,Jr and John R. Sutton, Sr.
Surviving Kay is her devoted husband of 59 years, David T. Sutton, who stood by her side with unwavering love and support. She also leaves behind her loving daughter, Kelly Sutton Helms and her husband Randy and their precious daughter, Kaitlyn Helms, who brought immense joy to Didis life. Additionally, she is survived by her caring sisters in-laws, Joye Sutton Kaufman, Lynn Sutton Spain, Sandra Sutton Self and Elaine Phillips Sutton as well as many nieces and nephews who will forever remember her kindness, love and grace and as Mama Kay.
A celebration of Kays incredible life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, ensuring that her legacy of compassion and care continues to touch lives.
Kay Williams Suttons legacy of love, strength and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
