Keith Fisher
Date Of Birth: 09/26/1926
Date of Death: 01/01/2025
Keith had an adventurous spirit. When he was 26 years old, he left his home in Derby England to seek out opportunities in north America with his skill in the industrial world as a pattern maker. An acquaintance told him those skills were needed in Canada so off he went. Toronto proved good, but the United States looked even better, so he moved to Dallas TX where he met Marjorie, with whom he would share the rest of his life. Together they moved again to Denver Colorado, had 3 children, bought their first home and did the daily work of raising a family. Always one who loved nature, he was captivated with the beauty of the American west, its mountains, forests, deserts and plains. He explored those places with his family on many road trips and camping excursions in National Parks and visiting Marge's family in Missouri.
In 1970 he felt the pangs of homesickness, missing England, his sister and mother. So, they packed up what they could, sold all else and moved. This adventure only lasted about a year and a half, deciding it was not what they wanted after all so back to the States they came, this time headed to Oregon. They had visited a few years earlier on vacation and loved it. Oregon became their permanent home.
Keith liked to have a good time and enjoyed a fun party and getting together with friends. Many of those friends were lifelong and they kept in touch wherever they lived. He ended up surviving almost all of them. He loved music and liked to turn up the volume! There was always music in the house.
His craft was a hobby as well as a profession, as it is with many woodworkers. In his garage shop he built furniture and other useful or decorative wood pieces. After retiring he took up carving and together with Marge created lifelike replicas of birds (he carved them, and she painted).
His family was most important to him. He and Marge did almost everything together and he was always there for his children when they needed him. They tried to do the same for him in his old age. He lived a long and lucky life; lucky in love and marriage, a good job he enjoyed, and independence almost to the very end.
He is survived by his children; Steve (Joy), Janet (Michael) and Victoria; his Grandchildren; Keith, Keenan, Ken, Celeste, Marissa, and Helena, who are grateful for who he was and will miss him.
