Kendra Horton, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, at the age of 45. Born on November 2, 1979, in Akron, Ohio, to Clarence and Elizabeth Horton, Kendra spent her life deeply rooted in the community that helped shape her wonderful woman that so many cherished.
A proud graduate of South High School, Kendra attended Akron Public Schools, where she cultivated a strong sense of perseverance and independence. After graduation, she immediately began working, dedicating herself to building a loving and stable life for her children, whom she considered her greatest accomplishment.
Kendra most recently worked as a cashier at Chipotle, where she was known not only for her professionalism and warmth but also for the genuine joy she brought to customers and coworkers alike. Her presence brightened every room, and she took great pride in her role over the past five years.
Beyond her work, Kendra had a unique gift for celebration-she had an extraordinary talent for party decorations and themed events. Whether it was a birthday, graduation, or just a family gathering, Kendra's creative touch turned every occasion into a cherished memory.
She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Horton; her brothers, Jermyn Brock, LC Horton, and Bernard Horton; her sister, Shereta Horton; and her bonus sister, Roxsann Vinson.
Kendra leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her devoted mother, Elizabeth Horton; her beloved children, Devon (Taleyyah) Horton, twins Ray and Ray'Onna Hardiman, Nyree Horton, and Kendise Horton; and her seven treasured grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard Horton (Megan) and Clarence (Melanie) Horton; her bonus sister, Maxine Lucas; godmother, Kathy Johnson; special nephew, Masyah; her grandson Richard Horton; and a host of extended family and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Kendra's life was a testament to strength, love, and the unbreakable bonds of family. Her laughter, her generosity, and her unwavering support will be remembered always. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Oh 44320. Funeral service will immediately follow.
