Kenneth Lee Covington, 59, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on November 2, 2025, at Prisma Richland Memorial Hospital. Born in Meriden, Connecticut on August 30, 1966, he was the son of the late Keturah Jackson and Lavern Williams.
Kenneth resided in Columbia, South Carolina; Meriden, Connecticut; Annapolis, Maryland; Glen Burnie, Maryland; and New Haven, Connecticut. He attended Platt High School in Meriden, Connecticut. He was employed by Custom Commodities and was a member of Word of God Ministries.
Kenneth was the previous head coach of the New Haven Steelers youth football league when he lived in CT and was known as the biggest Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved cigars and loved to fish. Cooking for family and friends was his passion, and he took regular fishing trips with his friends. Kenneth was a proud owner of a fishing boat, loved to dance, and was always the life of the party. He took great pride in being a Mason, valuing the brotherhood, service, and lifelong friendships it brought him.
He is survived by his four daughters: Keesha and her wife Alejandra, Ashley, Janell, and Belinda; his son Kendall; fourteen grandchildren: Vincent, Maya, Nathan, Avery, Addison, Kingsley, Malia, Tiana, Ty'zon, Zuriah, Tristan, Lia, Jace, and Maxwell; two sisters: Chrissy Outlaw and her husband Kahseim, and Sherri Covington; and three brothers: Laverne Williams Jr., Jeffrey Tyrone Williams, and Joseph Boucher and his wife Kristen. He also leaves behind nine nieces and eight nephews. Besides his parents, Kenneth was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Harry Smith and Ella Osabell Smith; and his paternal grandparents, Oscar B. Carraway and Eula Mae Carraway.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, November 22, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden 06450. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. There will be no burial.
