Obituary published on Legacy.com by Compassion Funeral & Cremation Services - Nashville on Jan. 13, 2024.
Kenneth Lynn Denny ("KD" or "Kenny"), age 44, born March 22, 1979, went home to see Jesus on January 8, 2024. He is survived by the love of his life-his forever partner and angel sent from the Heart of God, Crystal Elizabeth Denny, and their two children, Landon James Denny, and McKayla Grace Denny, who love and admire their daddy deeply! He is also survived by his mother and father (Jean and Dale) who adore and are so blessed by his all-to-short, but amazingly wonderful and meaningful life. He has two siblings, a brother, Danny, and a sister, Barbara, plus loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kenneth cherished every moment with his grandmother and grandfather, Melba Jean Denny (Worley) and James I Denny Jr., who undoubtedly were waiting with open arms as they reunited in the presence of their LORD–what a reunion it must have been! Kenneth loved all things family, and the Denny family could be viewed as a small army, as music, especially Gospel music, was very commonplace in Melba and James'
Pekin, Indiana home.
Kenneth started his educational pursuits at Nashville Christian School for high school, and then to Lipscomb University before beginning his professional career at the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and was at the time of his passing, the President and COO of D2 Holdings, LLC, a family owned and operated entity, whose objective is to maintain, improve and grow (MIG) Denny family assets and as his children grew he intended to make them a part of the family business and Lord willing, he has left everything in place for that to occur, and his legacy will continue through his precious wife, children and family.
Kenneth had many connections to the Nashville/Brentwood communities and Indiana long-time
member of The Family of God at Woodmont Hills, but also involved with Western Hills, Owens Chapel, and South Liberty Church of Christ, home church of his father and grandparents near the Denny farms. His children attend Lipscomb Academy, and he was an avid supporter of Youth Encouragement Services (YES). Most recently he was instrumental in the launch of the YES Garden Project, whose objective is to help inner city children learn the benefits of gardens, nature, and appreciating the beauty of God's creation, especially in a way that would honor his grandparents, Melba and James Denny. These gardens will be dedicated in honor of his grandparents. Kenneth spent a lot of time at the Denny family farms in
Pekin, Indiana, and he had many fond memories of his "farm" time with his grandparents. He would often remark if only he could do another "farm chore" for his grandmother or grandfather.
KD was patriotic, lover of country music, and the ultimate and quintessential outdoorsman you could find him at the family river house, on the dock fishing and catching (18 inches) catfish or other fish. He also enjoyed being Captain, with his quite believable "Zac Brown Beard" look, of the family boat-named "The James W. Grace" to honor both his grandparents and children. Additionally, you could find him 4-wheeling, reeper-riding, camping, hunting, range shooting, etc. Kenneth also enjoyed working outside polishing, tinkering, and/or driving the family 1964 Classic Chevy Impala Convertible, fire engine red with a gold fleck, affectionately called He loved family vacations, which were generally either at the beach or the mountains, and enjoyed riding trains across the
country seeing all the beauty the good LORD created. However, nothing was as important to him as his relationship with Jesus and being appreciative of all the rich bounty showered upon him and his family by God; his relationships with family and close friends were his top priority and, of course, his dear bulldogs, PJ and Cornbread! KD would often remark to his father ("POP") that he could not imagine being blessed by a better family heritage and how appreciative he was where God had placed him in this world-and he would frequently remind Crystal, Landon, and McKayla how fortunate and blessed they were to be a part of the legacy of the Denny Family, where nurturing and love were as normal and commonplace as the air one breathes! He was so enriched by, and appreciative of, the Denny family, and its deeply rooted Christian-based heritage, that he researched many years ago the Denny Family Crest, and had rings and/or pendants made accordingly, and would often "boast" that he would never take off his family crest-laden gold ring!
KD was ever the doting husband, father, and son but his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also experienced his sweet smile and tender appreciative spirit, knowing that when they were in his presence real love was shining through making them feel like a million bucks on any given day! He made sure that his children, wife, family, and friends knew Jesus, and if you were fortunate to hear him pray, you would indeed be drawn closer to Jesus by the experience.
A heart of gold, an incredibly protective spirit for his family and friends, a reassuring and loving smile one touched by Jesus that is KD and our world was a better place for him giving us his presence for 44+ years!
