Saint Albans - Kenneth D. Fairchild, 73, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at UVM Medical Center following a brief illness with his family at his side.

Ken was born on March 2, 1952, in Malone, New York, the son of Dale and Eunice (Clark) Fairchild.

To say that sports dominated his life, is an understatement. From his early age onward, he was an eager participant in football, basketball and baseball. He was a standout athlete in high school at Franklin Academy in Malone, New York and through college at Norwich University in Vermont. His skills led him to be inducted into the Athletic Halls of fame at both institutions.

Following college, he was hired to be a teacher and coach at Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. He was very proud of his students and athletes. Achieving the Vermont State Division 1 Basketball Championship in 1987 was exhilarating.

In his retirement years he took up golf with a vengeance and enjoyed lots of rounds with his good friends. He would drive long miles to go to Pro football games with his family. He would walk long miles every day to enjoy the beauty of St. Albans.

Survivors include his wife Jean (Brady) Fairchild, their daughter Kathryn Fairchild, mother Eunice (Clark) Fairchild. He will be missed by his older sister, Linda Fairchild and younger sister Carol Lamica and husband Joe. His many nephews, nieces and their families will remember him fondly.

Kenny was predeceased by his father Dale and older brother Larry.

Services for the immediate family will be held at the Heald Funeral Home, followed by burial at the St. Albans Bay Cemetery.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, September 18th from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Champlain Country Club, 581 St. Albans Road in Swanton.

In Memory of Ken donations to the Jim Bashaw Catastrophic Illness Fund, c/o Northwestern Medical Center, Attn: Community Relations Office, 133 Fairfield Street, St. Albans, Vermont 05478.
