Kenneth Paul Jones, 72, of East Greenbush, passed away Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at home.
Ken was born in Queens, New York the son of the late Kenneth and Joan (Kemnitzer) Jones.
Ken recently retired from the State University of New York where he served as a Research Associate for the University at Albany Cancer Research Center since 2008. Prior to UAlbany, Ken worked in research at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana and the W. Alton Jones Cell Science Center in Lake Placid, NY. Ken graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and received a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law in Concord, NH.
At an early age Ken gained a life-long love for the game of golf from his father, and played memorable rounds in NYC, the Adirondacks and even the Old Course in St Andrews, Scotland. Ken had an extensive knowledge and collection of rare coins and also enjoyed restoring vintage electronics. He was a big fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, attending many home games during his time in South Bend.
Survivors include his three sisters, JoEllen Welsh (Martin Tenniswood), Laurie (Steve) Oldock and Carolyn Clephane; nieces and nephews, David Clephane, Christina Fleischer, Timothy Welsh, Robert Tenniswood, Jennifer Welsh, Stephanie Weston and David Tenniswood. Of his many "Kemnitzer" cousins, he will be especially missed by those in Florida and NY: Jeanie Smith, Kevin and Ray DuMicich, Richard Jones, Karen Lane and Ruth Mee.
Ken was devoted to family (especially his Dad) and always ready to lend a helping hand, whether at home or at work in the "Welshwood" research lab.
