Kenneth Lent Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls on Aug. 24, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Kenneth "Kenny" William Lent, 55, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Genesis Hospice Morrison House.

Kenny was a medical anomaly because he thrived for two and a half years after a Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis in Spring of 2023. His faith in Jesus Christ prevailed as an inspiration to us all. Prayers for Kenny echoed around the world.

In the end, he succumbed to the disease, but he refused to surrender. His unrelenting belief that he could be healed, and his positive attitude, was a light of hope to many.

The family would like to thank the hundreds of medical professionals involved in the fifty rounds of chemo treatment and testing that helped to extend his life. He was proud to be involved in research for a cure.

Kenny was born November 11, 1969, the son of Shirley Jean (Cohagan) and the late Warren "Butch" Lent of Chandlersville. He graduated in 1988 from Philo High School and in 1992 from Otterbein University. He lived in Westerville following graduation until 2019, when he returned to the local area to join his future wife.

Kenny was employed by MeyMax Title Agency in Columbus, Ohio, for fifteen years. He loved his work as an accounting bookkeeper and continued active employment until the end of his life. During the tax season, Kenny donated his skills to the Volunteer Income Tax Program. He helped hundreds of people in his ten years as a volunteer.

Kenny enjoyed visiting with family and friends, watching sports (particularly his Buckeyes and Cowboys) and listening to Worship music. Kenny is a member of Pleasant Grove Global Methodist Church, where he married Paula Dozer on February 12, 2022. They suffered an early miscarriage at the end of that same year. Kenny is survived by his doting wife, Paula Lent.

Kenny is also survived by his mother Shirley Jean (Cohagan) Lent-Sams, as well as her husband, James Sams; his five siblings, Warren Michael (Misty) Lent, Katrina (Howard) Woods, Chrissy (Royce) Holliday, Adam (Stephanie Omen) Lent, and Jonathan (Amy) Lent; his nieces and nephews, to whom he was the favorite uncle, Karleigh and Jordan Lent, Ryan, Abbie, Eli, and Andrew Holliday, Keelyn and Kassidy Lucas, Kendall Lent, Parker, Kennady, Haiden Omen, Caleb, Anna, Emily, Samuel, and Lucy Lent, and Arabella Beardsley; as well as family by heart, Adam (Vanessa) Beardsley, Andrew (Christine) Maxey, and Michael (Celeste) Lynch; his parents-in-law, George and Judith Dozer, and brother-in-law, Derek (Kimberly) Dozer and family of Roseville. His wife's extended family and friends thought the world of Kenny.

Kenny comes from a very large extended family of many aunts, uncles, cousins, and their children.

He will be missed by many brothers and sisters in Christ, his family, many lifelong friends from near and far, members of his Church, his coworkers, and his two kitties, Alfi and Baby.

Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Warren "Butch" Lent, in 2009, who was his best friend and role model.

Visitations will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Pleasant Grove Church at 400 Pleasant Grove Road, Zanesville, OH 43701.

Visitations will also be held from 9 AM to 11 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM following visitations. Pastor J. Eddie Warne will officiate the service. OSU attire is welcome!

A lunch reception will follow at the Fellowship Hall in the Church.

A private interment of his ashes in Pleasant Grove Cemetery will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his name to the Pleasant Grove Church Fellowship Hall Renovation Project.
