Kenneth Robert Rimkus, affectionately known as Ken to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, at his home in Willow Springs, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 17, 1943, in Chicago, Ken's journey through life was marked by his intelligence, creative spirit, and love for his family. He bravely battled pancreatic cancer.
Ken's academic pursuits were reflective of his sharp mind and dedication to learning. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering followed by a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering. His illustrious career spanned 32 years at Amoco, with many of those years dedicated to the Whiting Refinery in Indiana.
A devoted husband and father, Ken is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Karen Rimkus, his daughter, Kristin (Rimkus) Osterkamp, his son, Kyle Rimkus, son-in-law, Dale Osterkamp, and his granddaughters, Brooke and Paige Osterkamp.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ken had a passion for the art of making stained glass windows and lamps. His hobby was not only a testament to his artistic talent but also a source of great personal fulfillment. Each piece he crafted was infused with his meticulous attention to detail.
His absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ken's legacy will live on through the memories he created, the wisdom he imparted, and the beautiful stained glass pieces that will continue to shine brightly, much like his enduring spirit.
