Kenneth Joseph Schaftlein, 93, born January 13, 1931 to Mr. Ignatius Schaftlein and Mrs. Clara (Howlett) Schaftlein, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024. He was the devoted and loving husband of Alma Rose (Heckman) for 44 years. They married December 26, 1953. Over the years their home included several adorable little schnauzers. They also enjoyed spending time with extended family, especially the many, many nieces and nephews. All of whom always had the love and support of Uncle Keno/Kenny and Aunt Alma.
Kenneth was a Decorated Veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the U.S. Army from May, 1952 to May, 1953. His Decorations include the Korean Service Medal With 2 Bronze Stars, U.N. Service Medal, 5th Artillery Group IX Corps., Korean War Veteran Medal, and the Korean War Service Medal. He was a Building Contractor and was a member of the Mercedes Club.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alma; brothers, Bruce Schaftlein, Paul Schaftlein, Donald Schaftlein; sisters, Linda Abel and Ann Ballard.
He is survived by his brothers, David Schaftlein (Frances) and Steve Schaftlein; sisters in law, Gertrude Schaftlein and Margie Schaftlein.
His Funeral Mass will be 10:15 A.M. Thursday, February 1, 2024 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1925 Lewiston Dr. with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:15 A.M. to 10:15 A.M. at the church
