Shortsville – Kenneth L. Schroeder, age 67, passed away on April 26, 2023. He is survived by his daughter, Kaitlin Schroeder; three sisters, Karen Flood, Kim (Tom) Cox and Kristin (Arran) Duncan; several nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ken was born in Chicopee Falls, MA and was the son of Donn and Virginia (Colombo) Schroeder. He grew up in Honeoye and was a graduate of Honeoye Central School, class of 1974. Ken earned a bachelors degree in Technical Journalism from Colorado State University in 1983.
Ken had a lifelong passion and talent for music. He played several instruments and performed with multiple bands including The Instigators, Joe Sockit and the Wrenches, The Rhythm Devils, Mudflap, and The Crosseyed Cat Band. In his later years, he established Shortsville Sound, a recording studio and sound business. He recorded dozens of albums for local musicians and bands and operated the sound booth for numerous festivals in the area.
In addition to music, Ken loved animals, working on cars, cooking, and going on cruises with his daughter. He had a wonderful collection of antique radios and could often be found enjoying a warm glass of Grand Marnier as he listened. Ken also loved projects and would go out of his way to help anyone with everything from plumbing to electrical, despite being a bit accident prone. He was funny, eccentric, loud, and often the life of the party. Family was very important to him. Ken was a devoted son, father, and brother. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Friends may call Monday, July 10, from 5-7pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 2 South Avenue, Bloomfield. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 11, at 11am, at East Bloomfield Cemetery, Park Place, Bloomfield.
