Celebrating the Life of Kent Campbell
Kent Campbell lived a full life, filled with loyalty, love, and just the right amount of mischief. On January 29, 2025, he passed away peacefully at his home in Denver, Colorado-just as he wanted, with no fanfare or fuss. If you knew Kent, you'd know he'd much rather you raise a glass in his honor than sit through a somber ceremony.
Born on October 2, 1949, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Lois (Christie) and C.W. (Bill) Campbell, Kent had an early knack for curiosity and exploration. His childhood took him from Tucson, Arizona, Castle Rock, Colorado, and to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he left his heart. He graduated high school in Alliance, Nebraska, in 1967. He shared a love of cars with his dad, who owned several car dealerships, and he learned to fly an airplane as a teenager. He then set off for Kearney State College, where he pursued a degree in finance-but, more importantly, met the love of his life, Pam. The two married on June 14, 1970, in Broken Bow, Nebraska, and embarked on a lifelong partnership full of adventure, laughter, and love.
Kent built a career in finance, working in banks in Kearney and Sidney, Nebraska, before settling in Idaho Springs, Colorado, in 1973. There, he joined First State Bank, but his greatest role came in 1976 when he and Pam welcomed their daughter, Britta-his pride, his joy, and the only person who could ever convince him to attend a ballet recital.
The family's journey continued to Lansing, Kansas, in 1988, where Kent worked at Army National Bank before transitioning to the Small Business Administration in Kansas City. His work was important, but it was never what defined him. He had a quick wit, a sharp mind, and a heart that never stopped caring deeply for those he loved.
Retirement in 2008 brought him and Pam back to Colorado, where they could be closer to Britta, her husband Nate, and, most importantly, their grandson Campbell.
Kent is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Doug. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Pam, his daughter Britta, son-in-law Nate, and his grandson Campbell, who will carry forward his sense of humor, and perhaps even his legendary ability to balance a checkbook to the penny.
Though Kent may no longer be with us, his laughter, wisdom, and kindness live on in those who knew him. He wouldn't want us to dwell on sadness but instead to enjoy a good meal, share a good story, and maybe take an impromptu road trip, ideally to Santa Fe, just for the fun of it.
So, in honor of Kent, pour yourself a glass of something nice, put on a good record, and take a moment to appreciate the people around you, and remember: life is best lived with a little adventure, laughter, and a lot of love.
