Kervaris Lamar "Tar" Maple was born on December 19, 1985, in
Talladega, Alabama, to Eddie Roy Maple and Geneva Garrett Maple. As a cherished son, brother, father, uncle, and friend, he touched the lives of many with his warm spirit and infectious laughter.
At a young age, Kervaris accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with Kingston Missionary Baptist Church in Alpine, where his faith and enthusiasm for serving created a lasting impact on his community. His Aunt Minnie fondly remembers him and his favorite seat on the back row as she would turn around with a smile and glance to make sure he was there. A proud graduate of Talladega County Central High School Class of 2004, Kervaris embraced hard work throughout his life. He diligently served in the manufacturing industry, with Masterbrand Cabinets being his final place of employment before his health began to fail. He always demonstrated the virtues of hard work, compassion, and kindness instilled in him by his beloved parents, Eddie and Geneva Maple.
Known as a passionate Jack of all trades, Kervaris found joy in working on cars, cutting grass, and maintaining yards, showcasing his love for life in every task he undertook. His passions for music and his unwavering support for the Alabama Roll Tide made him a lively conversationalist and a loyal friend. If you knew Tar, you would know when he was coming before he got there from the beat of the music coming down the road. Kervaris's laughter and infectious smile brought warmth to gatherings, creating cherished memories for those fortunate enough to know him. He had a unique ability to make those around him feel valued and loved, forging connections that spanned beyond mere acquaintances.
As time winds its course, we look ahead to a future where Kervaris's spirit transcends this earthly realm, as he embarks on his journey towards eternal peace. On Wednesday morning, October 15, 2025, Kervaris traded his earthly home for eternal rest while in the care of UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL with his beloved family at his side. Once gaining his heavenly wings, he was reunited with grandparents, William "Bo" Garrett and Elizabeth Garrett, Clarence Garrett, and Narcissus Caldwell-Maple; niece, Julisha Lacheal Maple, and his nephew, Darrell Maple. In a moment of quiet reflection, we find comfort in knowing that Kervaris has reunited with those who have gone before him, resting now in eternal peace.
Kervaris leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, survived by his devoted parents, Eddie Roy and Geneva Maple of
Talladega, AL; four loving sons, Kervaris Beason, Kiyen McCoy, Kyree McCoy, and Jamier Whiteside; his adorable daughter, Shaniyah McCoy; three brothers, Eddie Lametrius (Alpha) Garrett of Anniston, AL, Derrick Maple and Roy (Shay) Maple of
