Ahlgrim Family Funeral Services - Palatine LocationVisitation for Kevin John Kindelin, 65, of Palatine, will be held on October 25, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine IL. from 12:00 Noon until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. The Interment will be private.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kevin who left this world on September 28, 2025, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Kevin was born on May 27, 1960 in Cali, Colombia, and throughout his life lived in many different places, each leaving a mark on his story. No matter where he was, his love for family, faith, and creativity remained constant. A devoted brother, uncle, godfather, and friend, Kevin will be remembered for his warm heart, sharp wit, and the joy he found in storytelling and literature. He was especially proud of his memoir, “At Least I Tried”, a lasting testament to his humor, honesty, and reflective spirit.
Kevin overcame many obstacles throughout his life with remarkable courage and resilience. His strength and determination inspired those around him and served as a reminder of the power of perseverance in the face of hardship.
A lifelong lover of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, Kevin often drew inspiration from its’ themes of courage, fellowship, and hope. He was also an avid sports fan, passionately cheering for the Chicago Bears, the Kansas City Chiefs, and his beloved Chicago Blackhawks. Kevin was a dedicated member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Palatine, where his faith and kindness touched many lives.
Kevin is a 1978 graduate of Lake Park High School in Roselle, IL. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Illinois State University in 1983
Kevin is survived by his siblings, Diana (Jon) Kruse, Kelly (Heidy) Kindelin, and Laura (Tom) Norwood; his nieces, Caitlin (Paul) Rogers, Colleen Kindelin, Brenna Norwood, Nicole Kindelin, Lia (Jonathan) Raffa, and Amy (Dustin) Barrett; and his nephews, Kevin Kruse, Stephen Kruse, Brian (Samantha) Norwood, and Andy Kruse. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia Kindelin.
Kevin’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
