Kevin Dale Purvis, 60, of Columbus, died at his home on December 17, 2024. Kevin was born June 7, 1964, in Madison, Indiana, the son of Herbert and Rosemary (Jones) Purvis.
Kevin was an avid metal detectorist and antique enthusiast, unearthing treasures and stories of the past with each find. He found serenity in fishing and riding his motorcycles on the open road. He was a devoted family man whose big heart and generous spirit were the cornerstones of his existence. Above all, his greatest joy was spending precious moments with his family and doting on his grandchildren, nurturing a bond that would outlast his time on earth.
In keeping with Kevin's wishes, cremation is planned and a private ceremony will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Riley Children's Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Survivors include son, Michael Kent; daughters, Casey Alford, Gabriela Herrera, and Jennifer Wagner; brother, Donald Purvis of Columbus; nephew, Mark (Jacqueline) Purvis; grandchildren, Eisley Alford, Halle Kent, Isabella Kent, Carter Kent, Julian Wilson, Maria Lopez, Javier Santiago, Serrena Rodriguez, and Rolando Rodriguez, as well as, Lori Kent (Miller) and Mary Herrera.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Rosemary Purvis; son, Christopher Kent; brothers, Gerald Purvis, Douglas Purvis, and Mike Purvis; sisters, Terry Purvis and Martha Purvis, and also loved one, Scott Sheppard.
Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
