Kristy L. Singleton, age 74, of Manitowoc, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, September 24, 2024 at Froedtert Holy Family Medical Center in Manitowoc.
Kristy was born on March 13, 1950 in Manitowoc, daughter of Shirley (Rehbein) Rahmlow and the late Glen Rahmlow. She grew up and attended First German Lutheran School and was a 1968 graduate of Manitowoc Lutheran High School. On April 8, 1970, Kris married the former Billy Ray Singleton at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mishicot. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2017. They were a proud Army family who were stationed in Germany, Missouri, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Texas, and Hawaii during Bill's career. In 1988, the family moved to Manitowoc after Bill's retirement to fulfill their dream of raising their children in parochial schools. Kris worked as a secretary for the FBI when she met Bill. She then was a stay-at-home mother while the family was stationed in the Army and later worked at Hartman's Bakery, formerly known as Gilbert's Bakery, following her return to Manitowoc. Kris was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, watching TV, and loved to play a variety of card games. Kris was a proud supporter and fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Clemson Tigers. There wasn't a moment you didn't hear Christmas music playing in her car, 365 days a year. Her laughter, words of wisdom, and memories she created will stay with us forever. She was "sometimes" stubborn in her own ways - leaving the bathroom light on at all times and never really appreciating her foxes. Kris, affectionately known as Grammie by her grandchildren, will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her five children and their families: Billy Ray (Terri) Singleton II, Dousman and their daughter: Emma; Jennifer Marquez, Winslow, AZ and her children: Evan, Rya and Kiernan; Lisa (Simon) Sparks, Manitowoc and their son: Oliver; Rosemary (John) Ketterer, Malone; and their children; Carrlee and Benjamin; Jonathan Singleton, Manitowoc; her mother; Shirley Rahmlow, Two Rivers; one brother and sister-in-law: William (Connie) Rahmlow, Two Rivers; one sister and brother-in-law: Carol (Darold) Wachholz, Mishicot; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law include: Emily Morgan, VA; Patricia (Benny) Young, SC; Debby (Al) Young, SC; special family friends: Jim and Debbie Reis, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her father: Glen Rahmlow; her husband: Billy Ray Singleton; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Johnnie and Mary Singleton; one brother-in-law: Ray Morgan.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 916 Pine Street, Manitowoc. The Rev's Paul Bowe and Brett Naumann will officiate with cremation to follow. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Manitowoc Lutheran High School. The Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes, Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the family. Great memories of sitting in the shade of the big tree in the yard with my friend and neighbor.
I also wanted to take her place for piano lessons which she hated !!
I hold those memories close as the sweet, simple times in our lives.
