Krystal Nicole Repp was born on December 7th, 1981 to Jim and Debbie (Semler) Repp in Spokane, Washington. Krystal passed away from complications of Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy on September 27th, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Krystal was diagnosed with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD) in 2008. LGMD is a rare genetic disease that causes progressive muscle weakness and wasting. It's a brutal and relentless disease, but Krystal never let her diagnosis stop her from continuing to live her life, accomplish her goals, and support her family and friends. Unfortunately, her LGMD progressed to her lungs, leading to her untimely death.
Krystal graduated from University High School in
Spokane Valley, WA in 2000. She then attended Spokane Community College to become a pharmacy technician. While in school, she also worked as a manager and cake decorator for Baskin Robbins where she found a passion and a creative outlet in concocting beautiful cakes for family, friends, and coworkers.
After graduating, she worked as a pharmacy technician for Albertsons. It was during this period, in 2006, that she met Jason McNair, who would become her fiance. Jason and Krystal would remain by each other's side through all the adventures and challenges to follow. They were joined in 2015 by their beloved border collie Luna, who would become Krystal's companion and protector.
Krystal took a job as a pharmacy tech for Washington State University, which led her and Jason to move to Pullman. As her LGMD worsened, standing all day in a pharmacy began to take a toll on her body, so Krystal enrolled at WSU and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. This eventually led to her becoming the Senior Specialty Business Analyst in the IT Department at WSU.
Jason and Krystal moved back to Spokane in 2018 to be closer to family as her disease progressed, continuing her work for WSU remotely. Unfortunately, a terrible fall in 2021 led to Krystal losing the use of both of her legs. As she adjusted to life in a wheelchair, she poured her energy into knitting and crocheting. The multitude of beautiful hats, blankets, scarves, and socks she created will be cherished reminders of both her creative spirit and her care for others.
Krystal had many talents and achievements, but her true passion was people. Her big heart, kind nature, and eagerness to help others were the defining pillars of her personality and the legacy she leaves. She gave selflessly and loved unconditionally. She especially loved supporting her sister Pam and her involvement in
The Special Olympics.
All who knew her will remember her as a great listener with a gentle soul and a smile in her eyes. She was patient and forgiving, and an incredible problem solver. Even in her final days, she was still looking for solutions and thinking of others. Krystal's life was full of challenges, but you would never know it. She faced her struggles with grace and quiet courage. She loved life, and she left us too soon.
Krystal is preceded in death by her grandparents Norm Semler and Joan LaVerne and James and Gloria Repp. Krystal is survived by her fiancé Jason McNair; parents Jim and Debbie Repp; her sisters Jenn and Pam; brother-in-law Zak Menkel, and her niece Hadley.
