Kurt Christian Sternal, 50, of Hainesport, NJ passed away on November 3, 2023, at Samaritan Hospice in Voorhees, NJ surrounded by family after a brief battle with diabetic-related infections. He had been ill for 26 years with multiple chronic conditions as a result of his time served as a Marine in Quantico, VA.
Kurt spent the first 13 years of his life in Prior Lake, MN and was a long-time resident of Hainesport NJ. He graduated in 1992 from Rancocas Valley Regional High School in Mt. Holly before serving the country as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1992 to 1997 during the Gulf War. He also briefly worked in security at the Masonic Home in Burlington and at Burlington County College in Mt. Laurel, NJ. He enjoyed spending time with family and working in his backyard, computer and RPG games, and was an avid collector of books, comic books, and coins. One of Kurt's passions was helping feral cats and assisting animal-related organizations.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Ann Sternal of Hainesport, NJ; father, Stan Sternal (Judy) of Shoreview, MN; sister, Beth Wood (George) of Hainesport, NJ; stepsister, Brook Sherman of ID; stepbrother, Trevor Sherman of CA; nieces, Raegan & Madeline; and a long list of cousins. He is pre-deceased by maternal grandparents, Charles Mushinski and Marian Derca of Hainesport, NJ and paternal grandparents, Roy & Gretel Sternal of Finlayson, MN.
The family would like to thank Samaritan Hospice for the outstanding care they gave to Kurt in his final days. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may donate in Kurt's memory to either Hainesport Community Cats or the Hainesport Emergency Squad.
Per Kurt's wishes, there will be no memorial service and interment is private. He will be buried at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
