Lael Evelyn Nord, 88, of New Brighton, passed peacefully on January 30, 2025.
Lael met the love of her life John while attending Edison High School. They married in 1957 and were side-by-side until John's passing in 2005. She missed him every single day since that day and is grateful for their reunion.
She was preceded in death by her parents Reuben and Helma Johnson, brother Gene Marquis, and granddaughter Emily Dykema.
Lael is survived by her brother Lary (Barb) Johnson; children Tobin (Janna) Nord, Karin (Gary) Martinek, and Jay Nord; Grandchildren Conner (Dani) Nord, Kally (Joe) Graslewicz, Tyler (Addie) Nord, Jack (Katelynn) Martinek, Sophia (Brett) Cox, and Emily's husband Mike Dykema; Great Grandchildren Mila, Grace, Anders, Anja and Isadora; and the rest of her family and friends, too many to name.
Lael loved her family, old and new friends, walks, golf and a good card game. She also loved her independence, feeling useful, and helping others when she could.
A private celebration of her life for family and friends will be held at a later date. By way of memorial, her kids ask that you remember Lael by always being humble and kind.
