Obituary of Larry Wayne Hargett
Larry Wayne Hargett, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023.
He was born in Lexington, Kentucky on May 29, 1941 to Virginia and Lewis Hargett. He was the husband of Carole Ruffner Hargett of Lexington for 63 years. He graduated from Asbury College in 1964 and completed graduate classes in engineering at the University of Kentucky. Larry was a UK fellow. He took great pride continuing the family business in the construction industry since his father started Hargett Construction in Lexington, 1937. His brother Ron continues the family business today and his daughter Teresa, is part of the architecture and construction industry.
Since joining his father, founder Lewis H Hargett, Larry has been active in building diversified projects all over the bluegrass and continues today after over eight decades of building projects. He was known for his love of the industry, close personal and professional relationships that spanned decades and his enormous capacity for love and the bonds of friendship and family, especially his grandchildren, August and Eliot.
In addition to his wife, Carole, those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Teresa Hargett Brooks of Georgetown; his brothers, Ron and Richard Hargett both of Lexington, and granddaughters, August and Eliot Brooks.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Kevin Hargett.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from 5-7PM at Clark Legacy Center, Nicholasville, KY. In honor of his legacy, Larry's family would like memorial contributions made to Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Lexington KY or the Lexington Humane Society.
