Larry D. Hopping, 76, of Ipava, IL, passed away at 3:32 pm on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. He was born on October 6, 1947 in Macomb, IL, the son of Harold and Donna (Hinds) Hopping. Larry married Shirley Colston on November 9, 1968 in Ipava. She survives
He is also survived by his three sons; Michael (and Buffy) Hopping of Ipava, Brad (and Pam) Hopping of Vermont, IL and Darren (and Eboni) Hopping of Davenport, IA, 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brother; Jim (and Jackie) Hopping of Union, MO, and sister; Brenda (and Rodger) Hamby of Stockton, MO.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson; Landon Hopping, two sisters; Tammy Sue Hopping and Phyllis Jean Hadsall, and one brother; Rick Hopping.
Larry retired from NTN Bower in Macomb after 42 years.
Larry enjoyed being a member of the Ipava Fire Department for several years. Larry also enjoyed working, making buttons, watching westerns, going to stock car and motorcycle races, and visiting with friends. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a Jeff Gordon fan. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, July 19, 2024 in the Ipava Cemetery in Ipava. Brian Hadsall will officiate. A visitation will take place from 10 am to 12 pm at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL on Friday, July 19 before the graveside service. Memorials may be made in memory of Larry to the Ipava Fire Department, Ipava American Legion or Fulton County EMS.
