Larry B. Leighty, 85, of LaRose Illinois, died on May 31, 2025 at his residence. Born Allendale Illinois to the late Kenneth and Virginia (Love) Leighty, he married Shirley B. Hisele on April 24, 1965 in Pontiac Illinois. Shirley died on December 18, 2017. Larry is survived by his nieces Jerri Lynn Leighty, Stacie Jefferson and Gala Oswald; his cousins Rick, Mike, & Tim Leighty, and Brent & Kenneth Fowler. He was also preceded in death by his brother and his sister. Larry graduated from high school and joined the Air Force with four years active duty and two in reserves. He was accountant by trade and worked for General Telephone for a few years before spending 14 years working in farm equipment and tractor sales. Larry then met a man named Charles Allen who ran a group of lumberyards in the Midwest. Charlie hired Larry to be his accountant and Larry spent the next 32 years working for the Allen Family limited partnership until Charlie's death. He was a member of the American Legion, the Marshall County Historical Society, and a former Marshall County board member and chairman. Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services at this time. Larry has made the decision that he and his wife will be buried in the family cemetery in Lawrenceburg Illinois. online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com.
