Larry Osborne, 85, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at his home. He was born October 27, 1937 in Evansville to the late Paul and Leora (Vowels) Osborne.
Larry graduated from Memorial High School in 1955. He worked for Royal Typewriter for over 20 years. Larry then began his career managing Showplace Cinemas until his retirement. He was a Fourth Degree Officer with the Knights of Columbus. Larry was an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and was inducted into the Bruté Society in 2006 by his parish in recognition for his ongoing commitment to stewardship. He was Chairman of the Community Involvement Board, taught RCIA for 20 years and with his wife were mentors to many young couples at the church. In addition, Larry was very active in the home bound ministry at Holy Redeemer and led the CHIRP program many weekends. He could always be seen in the back of the church before Mass welcoming parishioners and visitors alike. Larry made Cursillo and cherished his prayer group. He was also a volunteer in the scouting program. Larry was an avid baseball fan and loved spending time with his family.
Larry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Catherine (Thompson) Osborne; daughters, Marie Merritt, Linda (Michael) Weinzapfel, Karen (Rodney) Liley, Janice (Tim) Hosford, Amy (Joe) Elsner, Kimberly (Shane) Ginnan, Kristine (Randy) Vickers, Sara (Chris) Happe and Melissa (Simone) Molotsky; sons, Michael (Sue) Eppler and Kenneth (Cathy) Eppler; 28 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Osborne; and sister, Dolores Osborne.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2023 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville with a Memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W. Mill Rd., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Father Jason Gries officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church or Saint Meinrad, 200 Hill Dr., Saint Meinrad, IN 47577.
