Larry Duane Paulson, age 73, of Crookston, Minnesota, passed away at Villa St. Vincent on Sunday, February 2, 2025. He was born on April 20, 1951, as one of four children to loving parents Delmer and Eunice (Larson) Paulson in Fargo, North Dakota.

Larry grew up in Crookston, got his first job at the Grand Theater, and worked there during high school, graduating from Crookston Central High School in 1969. Soon after graduating, Larry started working for the Burlington Northern Railroad. Then, later in 1971, Larry enlisted in the Navy alongside his cousin, Gary. During his time in the service, Larry traveled a lot, having been stationed in San Diego, California, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Washington D.C. He served for four years, ending his time in the Navy before marrying the love of his life, Debra “Debbie” Strommen, on October 16, 1976, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston.

After his time in the service, Larry returned to working on the railroad in Grand Forks. Later, he also worked at Grove Mechanical. He was also a longtime member and involved with the Crookston Eagles, along with his wife, Debbie, who was in the Auxiliary. Larry was awarded Eagle of the Year for his dedication.

Larry really enjoyed life, he loved classic cars, spoiling his nieces and nephews, and was always there when they needed him. He enjoyed a good bargain hunt, and was especially good at finding deals on TVs.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Debbie (Strommen) Paulson; parents, Delmer and Eunice (Larson) Paulson; parents-in-law, Donald and Delores (Eck) Strommen; sister, Natalie; brothers-in-law, Kent Ostgaard, Doug Strommen, Dale Strommen, and Dave Strommen.

He is survived by brothers, Brad Paulson and Jeff Paulson; brother-in-law, Danny Strommen; aunt, Pauline Paulson; nieces and nephews, Amanda Strommen, Ashley (Aaron) Gagner, Ross (Jim) Strommen, Zach Strommen, Brock Strommen, Aryanna Ostgaard, Cyrina Ostgaard, Gabriela (Elvic) Ostgaard, Melanie Newcombe; many cousins; and many beloved great-nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.

May God bless the memory of Larry Paulson.
