Larry Williams, 74, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in his home. Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW in Cedar Rapids. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 2 p.m. until service time at Brosh Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg at a later date.
Larry was born on October 14, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Ralph and Elizabeth (Mason) Williams. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School in 1968. He toured with a High School Honors Band and later played banjo, guitar and mandolin with some bluegrass groups. Bluegrass music was one of his greatest loves and interests. He graduated from Iowa State University and served in the Iowa National Guard for 6 years.
He started farming then worked construction before becoming a Correctional Officer at the Iowa Medical Classification Center Correctional Facility for 20 years.
Larry is survived by his brothers Everett (Linda) Williams of Swisher, John (Agnes) Williams of Shueyville; four nephews Chad (Tara) Williams, Aaron (Courtney) Williams, Sean (Jody) Williams, Ian (Ana) Williams; one niece Sarah Williams; great-nieces and nephews Lily, Ashton, Lauren, Connor, Liam and Joshua; and many relatives and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Joyce Williams.
