Laura Ellen Kelsay Dunagan, age 99 ½, went peacefully home to Heaven on Monday, September 15, 2025, where she was reunited with loved ones who went before her. Born April 28, 1926, Laura was the daughter of the late Fount Roe and Lucille (Crawford) Kelsay.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Everette Lee Dunagan; one brother, Roe Bertie Kelsay; one sister, Rose Huffaker; and her grandson, Cameron Rakes.

She leaves behind two sons, Daryl (Peggy) Dunagan and Duane (Karen) Dunagan; five grandchildren, Ryan (Fanny) Dunagan, Katherine (Matt) Osborne, Alyson (Brian) Randolph, Megan Dunagan, and Erin (Evan) Combs; ten great-grandchildren, Mia, Braxton, Ethan, Tristan, Annalee, Olivia, Silas, Lucas, Hudson, and Grace; numerous nieces and nephews to whom she was very close; along with a host of family and friends who will mourn her passing.

Laura graduated from Wayne County High School in 1943, and from Eastern Kentucky University in 1949. She was a respected and devoted educator from 1956 until 1983, teaching 3rd grade at Monticello Elementary before transitioning to serve as Monticello Schools librarian. She was also an avid quilter and a faithful member of the Country Charmers Homemakers Club.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff at Morning Pointe of Danville for their compassionate care during her last eight years. They also extend heartfelt appreciation to her dear friend and former caregiver, Julie Piercy, for loving Laura so well.

Laura's family will receive friends during the visitation on Saturday, September 20, 2025, between 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 1 pm at Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
