Laura Heiberger (August 8, 1952 – January 18, 2024)
Laura (Teresi) Heiberger, 71, of Chicago, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 18, 2024.
Laura was born on August 8, 1952, in Chicago, to Loretta and Vito Teresi. She was the oldest of her siblings, Francesca, Mark, David, Bruce, Rachel and Mary.
She married the love of her life, Robert Heiberger, on June 14, 1975. They were the best of friends and had many adventures together.
Laura was the most generous person and a friend to everyone she met. You would never go hungry around her and she would give you the shirt off her back or maybe a box of Margie's Candies. From the first time she met you, she remembered your name. She was known to call and sing happy birthday to you on your special day. She loved the outdoors and went on many camping trips with her family. She visited 42 of the 50 states and many national parks.
She was proud to be an educator for many years. She loved to help children learn and get excited about math and science. She organized a science club for her children's homeschool club and inspired many children to go into the STEM fields through her rocket building and science experiments.
Laura was grateful for her life and large family. She never turned down an invitation to a party. She was known for her large holiday parties and was an integral part of keeping her family's annual summer picnic going for over fifty years.
She was a big sports fan, especially the Chicago sports teams. She had a great laugh and the loudest whistle you have ever heard. She had some health struggles for many years but she never let them limit her or stop her from living her life to the fullest. She had a huge group of friends that loved her very much. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Bob, her two sons, Timothy (Krystal) and Andrew (Lisa), daughter, Jill (Robert), and one grandson, Dylan. She is also survived by her siblings, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and all the many friends she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Francesca.
